Julie R. Cryser
Julie R. Cryser accepted the position of WVU Extension Service development director in May 2006. In this position, Julie works to secure major gifts that support program and youth development and advance the mission of WVU Extension Service and West Virginia 4-H.
For nearly five years, Julie was employed by the University’s P.I. Reed School of Journalism as director of public relations, alumni relations, and development and as a lecturer. Julie coordinated the J school’s successful $1-million capital campaign and helped cultivate major gifts totaling more than $250,000.
For two years, Julie was a partner in an integrated marketing firm that specialized in nonprofit consulting. Julie’s earlier experience includes serving as a reporter or editor for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, (Clarksburg) Exponent-Telegram, Charleston Gazette, (Beckley) Register-Herald, and Parkersburg Sentinel.
Julie earned a bachelor’s degree in 1992 and a master’s degree in 2004; both are from WVU’s P.I. Reed School of Journalism. She also has an associate degree in journalism from Potomac State College. The Burlington native is a graduate of Keyser High School, where she was a FFA member.
