Q: Where should I send a donation?

Q: What should I include on the check?
A: In the memo line, please write either the fund number or the name of the program or project you would like the donation to assist.

Q: Who should I write out the check to?
A: Write the check to the WVU Foundation.

Q: Will I receive a receipt for my gift?
A: Yes. The WVU Foundation will send you an official receipt for your gift.

Q: Who do I contact if I have questions about making a gift, establishing an endowment or creating an income earning gift?

Q: Is the WVU Foundation a tax exempt organization?
A: Yes. The WVU Foundation was chartered in 1954 as a 501( c )(3) nonprofit corporation. The WVU Foundation is devoted to the welfare and future development of West Virginia University and its affiliated organizations, including WVU Extension Service and WV 4-H.

Q: How do I leave WVU Extension Service, WVU Jackson’s Mill or WV 4-H in my will?
A: Gift provisions must contain the correct wording of “to the West Virginia University Foundation, Inc. (Tax ID #55-6017181) to support (choose the WVU Extension Service, WVU Jackson’s Mill or WV 4-H).” Options for additional wording are available by consulting a development office staff member.

Q: How do I know my donation was placed in the correct account or how an endowment I established is being spent?
A: We will send you a thank you note letting you know what account the donation was placed in, and we will send you a yearly update on your endowment account and how money was spent from that account.
